A High-Level Health Media Dialogue with states and media executives across Nigeria has called for stronger collaboration and advocacy to enhance Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery and improve health outcomes across the country.
Themed: “Strengthening Primary Healthcare: A Collaborative Approach to Reducing Maternal Mortality and Enhancing Child Health in Nigeria,” the forum brought together key stakeholders from government, development partners, and the media in a united effort to advance Nigeria’s health agenda—particularly in the areas of maternal and child health.
The engagement served as a strategic platform to emphasize the critical link between health, communication, policy, public awareness, advocacy, and accountability, highlighting the media’s vital role in shaping public perception and driving policy reforms.
the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Uba Sani, shared insights into the state’s healthcare revitalization journey, detailing progress achieved through various impact projects, existing challenges, and future prospects for improved service delivery.
the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare reaffirmed the Federal Government’s continued commitment to transforming Nigeria’s health system by working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver sustainable and equitable healthcare for all.
The initiative was organized by the International Society for Media in Public Health (ISMPH) under the Advocacy Solution Project, implemented by Engender Health with funding support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project operates within the broader Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) framework, aimed at driving evidence-based advocacy and fostering accountability in Nigeria’s health sector.
