The race for the revered stool of the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland has taken a new turn as the foremost and globally acclaimed consultant opthalmic surgeon and the chief Medical Director Kunle Hassan Eye Foundation, Otunba Doctor Adekunle Hassan had formally declared his intention to contest for the stool.
Planet news reports that the official declaration, held on Sunday the 9th of November, al2025 at Judiara Hall, Odedina Compound, Igboburo, Ijebu Ode was a gathering of royalty, as prominent sons and daughters of Jadiara royal family including the Aladeken of Oke Ako Oba Adenola Osunsanmi, the vice chairman of Fusenguwa ruling house who is also the Baagbimo of Ijebuland Professor Fassy Yusuf, head of Jadiara royal family Omoba Prince Akinola Odedina, Secretary of Jadiara royal family, youths among others members of the seven families that made up Jadiara royal family.
Welcoming the princess and princesses the Olori-Ebi of Jadiara royal family,Prince Akinola Odedina saluted the courage and doggedness and dexterity of members of the royal family during the course of selection of new Awujale.
The head of Jadiara royal family who pointed out that this is the turn of Jadiara royal family to present candidate that will represent Fusengbuwa ruling house being the next ruling house to produce the next Awujale challenged them to intensify prayers as we unite to make the task ahead a seamless one.
In his declaration of interest text, Otunba Dr. Adekunle Hassan firstly requested for observation of a minute silence as a mark of honour of theappreciated all Jadiara royal family for the unwavering support, steadfastness and unity within the family since the demise of Awujale Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
Otunba Hassan pointed out that he is presenting himself for the highest royal stool in Ijebuland to further consolidate on the achievements of the immediate past Awujale as well as to serve humanity.
He promised to lead with a sincere mind as well further use his position and influence at global level to attract investors to Ijebu land.
Speaking on the sidelines of Thursday 6th of November’s meeting at the instance of Ogun state Government, Professor Chief Fassy Yusuf reported to the house that the three Olori-Ebis of Fusenguwa ruling house have fused and become one indivisible entity and with that Otunba Abdul-Lateef Owoyemi is now the chairman of Fusenguwa ruling house while Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba is the Deputy chairman as he serves as the vice chairman.
The new vice chairman of Fusenguwa ruling house professor Fassy Yusuf added that in addition to the fusing, Ogun state Government also mandated all former Olori Ebi who have sold expression of interest forms to contestants to refund all money collected.
The Baagbimo of Ijebuland Professor Fassy Yusuf and the Olori-Ebi of Jadiara royal family Prince Akinola Odedina while speaking on the personality of Dr Kunle Hassan paid glowing tributes to his personality and described him as the most quified for the stool due to his global exposure and track records of service to humanity.
The Aladeken of Oke Ako Oba Adenola Osunsanmi who also buttressed Prof Fassy Adetokunbo Yusuf and the Olori-Ebi of Jadiara royal family offered royal blessings on the contestant,prayed for the success of the project.
The Sunday 10th of November, 2025 declaration, the former chairman, council of Otunbas, Doctor Kunle Hassan became the first Ijebu prince to officially declared his interest in Awujale stool.
