Nigeria’s inflation rate drops to 16.05%.

Nigeria’s headline inflation rate slows to 16.05% in October 2025 from 18.02% in September 2025 for the seventh straight month.

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows a decrease of 1.96% inflation rate in October 2025 compared to the September 2025 Headline inflation rate.
On a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 17.82% lower than the rate recorded in October
2024 which was 33.88%.

On a month-on-month basis, the headline inflation rate stood at 0.93% , which was 0.21%
higher than 0.72% rate recorded in September 2025.

The data also shows that the average annual rate of food inflation in October 2025 dropped to 13.12% on a year-on-year basis. This was 26.04% points
lower compared to the rate recorded in October 2024.

The NBS attributes the significant decline in the annual food inflation to the change in the base year.
