The ruling in line to produce the next Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland (Fusengbuwa ruling house) has fixed Monday January 12, 2026 for the commencement of the selection process to fill the vacant stool of Awujale and paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
In a statement by the chairman, Fusengbuwa ruling house, Otunba Abdul-Lateef Owoyemi indicated that the exercise has been scheduled to hold at Bisrod Hall, GRA, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode by 12noon following a letter from Ijebu Ode Local Government
mandating the ruling house to within 14 days from the receipt of the notification begin its internal selection process in accordance with the customary laws of Ijebuland and the chieftaincy regulations of Ogun state.
In the letter dated January 6, 2026 also mandated the ruling house to formally notify the local government of the date, time and venue of the nomination exercise which must be within 14 days while representatives of the local governments must attend strictly as observers.
“This approval is issued to facilitate due process and remains without prejudice to the traditional rights and international procedures of the ruling house” the statement added.
The letter through the secretary of the local government, Hon. Oke Abiodun Adebayo also mandated the ruling house to invite officials of the council to the meeting to observe and monitor the nomination process.
