The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, has resumed lectures at Northwest University, Kano, enrolling as a Level 200 student in the Bachelor of Laws (LL. programme in Common and Sharia Law. Dressed in a black long gown and white turban, he joined other students in class and sat quietly at the back, following the lecture like every other undergraduate.
The university said his admission was granted in recognition of his vast experience in governance, economics, and public service. Founded in 2012, Northwest University is one of two state-owned universities in Kano, offering programmes aimed at academic and professional development.
Already a PhD holder and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi is widely respected for his contributions to public discourse and education advocacy. His return to the classroom drew excitement among students, many of whom described the moment as a powerful reminder of the importance of lifelong learning.
