Former Ogun State Governor and current Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), on Sunday visits Apunren Community following the ongoing land dispute between the residents and the Nigerian Military.
The visit comes amid rising tension after the Nigerian Military issued a 14-day ultimatum to residents of Apunren and 15 other affected communities, directing them to vacate the area over alleged land encroachment.
In the days leading up to the senator’s visit, reports emerged that buildings across the 16 communities were demolished by the military, leaving many residents displaced and distressed.
During his on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas, Senator Gbenga Daniel inspected the demolished structures and held discussions with community leaders and residents. He assured the people of Apunren that he would intervene urgently to seek a peaceful and fair resolution to the dispute.
OGD emphasized the need for dialogue and justice, noting that the welfare and safety of the affected communities remain a top priority.
