Ipokia Local Government mourns wife of the Ogun State first civilian governor.

Ipokia Local Government received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo (1925–2026), the revered matriarch of the Onabanjo family.

In a statement issued by the Executive Chairman
Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh who also doubles as the
Public Relations Officer, ALGON Ogun State Chapter described late Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo as a respected mother and matriarch whose life was marked by dignity, humility, and unwavering support for her family and society. As the wife of Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, the first civilian Governor of Ogun State who served from 1979 to 1983, she stood as a strong pillar behind a historic era of leadership and democratic governance in Ogun State.

The government and people of Ipokia Local Government commiserate with the Onabanjo family and, in particular, with the Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Barrister Olubukunola Olivia Onabanjo, on the painful loss of her beloved mother.

We pray that Almighty God grants the soul of the departed eternal rest and comforts the Onabanjo family with strength and fortitude during this difficult time.
